Public International Law & Policy Group

The Public International Law and Policy Group is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides pro bono public international legal assistance to developing states and states in transition, and seeks to promote a wider understanding of the relationship between international law and policy. From 1996-1998 the Group operated under the auspices of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. The Group has provided a range of public international legal services, which include: advising the Bosnian government during the Dayton Peace negotiations and on matters related to Dayton implementation; advising the Macedonian government on recognition and the Greek economic embargo; advising the Estonian government on territorial negotiations with Russia, state succession matters, and the treatment of its Russian minority; advising the Kosovo Albanian delegation to the Rambouillet/Paris negations; providing legal assistance to both the Yugoslav and Rwanda War Crimes Tribunals; advising small island states on the legal regime concerning global warming; and advising a range of NGO's such the International Crisis Group, the Balkan Institute, and the London based Bosnian Institute.

United States Institute of Peace

The United States Institute of Peace is an independent, nonpartisan, national institution established and funded by Congress. Its goals are to help prevent and resolve violent international conflicts, promote post-conflict stability and democratic transformations, and increase peacebuilding capacity, tools, and intellectual capital worldwide. The Institute does this by empowering others with knowledge, skills, and resources, as well as by its direct involvement in peacebuilding efforts around the globe.

Dayton Project: Program for Civil Dialogue in Bosnia Herzegovina

The Dayton Project: Program for Civil Dialogue in Bosnia Herzegovina, was founded by the Dayton Peace Accords Project to strengthen public awareness and facilitate dialogue in civil society on the need for governmental and constitutional reform in Bosnia and Herzegovina, to build consensus and promote mutual trust and confidence with respect to the country’s future, and to stimulate discussion between civil society and the authorities and institutions of Bosnia Herzegovina with a view to improving the living standards for the country’s citizens. The organization’s primary areas of focus are fiscal sustainability, EU accession, and the need to improve the functionality of state administration.

America-Bosnia Cultural Foundation

The America-Bosnia Cultural Foundation was established to foster stronger cultural and educational ties between the American and Bosnian people. The foundation organizes concerts, exhibitions, lectures, panels, and educational seminars in both Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the United States. Its projects are designed to provide better understanding between the US and Bosnia, promote tolerance and peace, and enhance educational processes. ABCF’s mission is also to strengthen democratic values in Bosnia and preserve its multiethnic and multicultural character. Sasha Toperich is the founder of ACBF and presidential envoy of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the United States.
